Why Therapy for Boys?

You probably don't need to be told that boys think, learn, act differently due to your own parenting experiences...but just to validate you, studies really have shown that boys open up differently (if you want to read more, see our Resources).

More importantly, boys that struggle to understand and express their emotions are more likely to struggle with their self-confidence. And who doesn't want a confident son?

The idea for Therapy for Boys came to Dr. Chad when he was wrestling with the most effective way to communicate with his own boys. It wasn't that they had any particular mental health issues, they just needed a nudge to help open up. But how?

Through his professional experience, Dr. Chad knew it was best to find someone outside of immediate family (see Resources) but he has also witnessed patients see greater success through his immersive/in-home approach to therapy (see details at drchadbrandt.com). So why not combine these two ideas to help boys open up and build self-confidence? And Therapy for Boys was born!

Here's where you come in! If your son struggles with anxiety, depression, social issues, confidence, or is just bad at understanding his own feelings, we can help. Based on his personality and interests, your son would be matched with one of "the guys" from our male-only team of therapists. But, as you can imagine, it is unlikely a boy will sit on a couch and talk face to face for an hour (we've all learned the hard way that boys talk more when distracted). Instead, our therapist comes to you and engages in a way that feels like hanging out, but it's really therapy. Shooting hoops, building Lego, playing board games, walking the dog...whatever gets him talking. â€‹â€‹â€‹Not only can our therapists be good listeners, they have the education and training to give your son skills necessary to build confidence and see success in school, sports, relationships, or wherever they need it. Boys helping boys. All while you're continuing on with your busy life instead of sitting in a waiting room. â€‹â€‹â€‹

At the end of the day, our goal is to help build confident young men, so if you know a boy who need a boost, give us a call.
